I am a semi-retired, part-time avian and aquatic veterinarian with 47 years of clinical experience. I established the first avian/exotic veterinary clinic in the United States (California).

I do not maintain a public office or clinic at this time. As such, I do not provide major surgery, inpatient care, emergency services, or office appointments.

Scope of Practice

My practice is focused on preventive medicine, diagnostic evaluation, medical treatment, and client education. Services are provided on a mobile basis only, at the client’s location, within defined time and distance limits.

Same-day appointments are not available. Online documentation from the owner is required in advance of scheduling.

Fees (Effective January 5, 2026)

• Mobile visit / individual exam / flock consultation:
  $155.00
  Includes travel time and mileage within the service area.
• Second patient (same visit) or extended flock consultation:
  Minimum additional fee: $87.00

Consultations include preventive care and management guidance.
When clinically indicated, ultrasound imaging may be performed for:

• Laying hens
• Koi carp

Laboratory diagnostics are performed either in-house or through selected reference laboratorie

Additional Services

• Wing and nail trims:
  Charged in addition to the above visit fees.
• Testing, treatments, and dispensed medications:
  Billed separately.

Follow-up emails and images from established clients with an active case are welcome and encouraged.

Practice Philosophy

In the Upstate region, approximately 90% of companion birds—as well as a significant number of backyard poultry and waterfowl—are not receiving appropriate nutrition or husbandry. This is often due to limited local resources and unreliable online information.

A substantial portion of my work is devoted to education and correction of husbandry and dietary issues, with the goal of improving long-term health and welfare.
